Healthy dog food brands Solid Gold claims its Blended Tuna Canned Cat Food is acceptable as a stand alone feed, however cat owners should be aware that tuna given daily can be harmful to a cat. Tuna often contains relatively high levels of mercury which can concentrate in a cat's body over time. It should only be given occasionally, as a treat or a reward.
This food is an excellent temporary choice for a sick cat that doesn't seem interested in other foods. The smell and taste may entice an otherwise low appetite cat to eat.

Our Reviews
This is some really great canned tuna! Its full of real chunky tuna, and has the added benefits of the Taurine and vitamins and minerals that cats need to have. Its not a patte style, over processed canned tuna. This is real chunky tuna like you would get at your grocery store, for your own meals- but should NEVER feed to cats because human tuna lacks the important Taurine and vitamins kitties need.
It isn't overly pungent, like some foods may be. It seems like the real tuna it is, and its like crack for kitties. It usually has the effect of getting cats who aren't feeling well and don't have a desire to eat, to get them to eat! And if you feed it to your cat's regularly, they will ask for it (our girl does). The only issue we have is that we have to cut up the chunky pieces of tuna for our overly spoiled, delicate kitty who refuses to chomp down on the big pieces. I think any other cat wouldn't have issues, but we spoil our girl so.. yeah, she is catered to.
We only feed her this every so often, she doesn't get it every day. But it seems to be the only wet canned food that she is willing to eat.
For her dry food we were feeding her the Katz'n Flocken dry Solid Gold cat food. But we decided to switch her to a higher protein food (Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain Feline formula), since our cat is such a super active kitty. But I have nothing but good stuff to say about the whole line of Solid Gold cat food.
The cat would always bug me when I ate tuna, but she usually understood that it wasn't for her and would leave me alone after a few minutes. But these cans LOOK like the cans of tuna for humans and the food inside SMELLS like tuna for humans, so now she is 100% convinced that I am eating HER FOOD and she will not shut up.
That is the only downside of this food. She really, really, really likes it.
