Spirulina is a blue-green algae. It is a simple, one-celled form of algae that thrives in warm, alkaline fresh-water bodies. Spirulina contains more than 60% protein and is also a concentrated source of a number of other nutrients including vitamin B12, beta carotene and gamma linoleic acid.
